Cast-In Aluminium
Heater Plates

A tubular element cast into an aluminium body gives you heat spread over a face instead of a line — uniform surface temperature, no hot spots, and mechanical strength that survives clamping. Machined, drilled and tapped to your drawing.

SPECIFICATION RANGE

What we build

Ranges we hold every day. Anything outside them is possible — it just needs a conversation before the drawing.

Plate size100 × 100 up to 600 × 600 mm; round plates Ø80 – Ø400 mm
Thickness12 – 40 mm (element burial depth ≥ 8 mm from the working face)
Power200 W – 6 kW per plate · 2.5 – 6 W/cm² face loading
Voltage120 / 230 / 400 V, single or 3-phase
Body materialAluminium ADC12 / 6061 (standard), bronze or brass on request
Embedded elementTubular SS321 / Incoloy 840, Ø8 – Ø12 mm, formed to follow the plate outline
Surface finishMachined flat 0.05 mm, Ra 1.6; optional anodised or PTFE coating
MachiningDrilled and tapped holes, counterbores, slots, sensor pockets, cable channel
SensorsThermostat pocket Ø6 / Ø8, Pt100 / Pt1000 pocket, over-temperature cut-out
TerminalsCeramic terminal block, IP54 box option, high-temp lead 300 mm standard
Max face temperature350 °C continuous (aluminium), 400 °C short term
Testing100 % hipot 1500 V / 1 s, IR ≥ 100 MΩ, R-value and leak current recorded
Send a STEP file and a wattage. We return a casting drawing showing element routing, burial depth, pocket positions and terminal exit — for approval before tooling. Tooling for a new plate shape is typically 10–14 days, plates 15 days after approval.
ENGINEERING

What actually decides how long it lasts

Four things we control in the process, and four reasons elements fail in the field.

  • Burial depth, not power, sets the face temperature. Element too close to the working face creates a stripe that runs 40 °C hotter than the rest. We keep ≥ 8 mm of aluminium over the element and verify with a thermal image.
  • Porosity is invisible until it cracks. Gas porosity around the element insulates it. We cast under controlled conditions and X-ray or section-check critical plates rather than trusting the surface.
  • Flatness is heat transfer. A plate that is 0.3 mm out of flat only touches the load at the high points. Contact resistance goes up, the plate overheats locally, and the customer blames the heater.
  • Thermal cycling fatigue. Repeated 20–350 °C cycles work-harden the element sheath. Incoloy 840 in place of SS304 roughly doubles cycle life on plates that switch every few minutes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Buyer questions, answered straight

Can you cast around our existing tubular element?

Yes, if the element is Ø8–12 mm with a defined cold zone. We will re-form it to the plate outline and confirm the bend radii before casting.

What is the lead time for a new plate?

10–14 days for the casting pattern, 15 days for the first plates after drawing approval. Repeat orders run 18–22 days.

How flat can you machine the face?

0.05 mm over the full face for plates up to 400 mm, 0.10 mm above that. We can hold 0.03 mm on small plates if the application needs it.

Do you supply the thermostat and wiring?

We can fit a thermostat pocket, supply a capillary or rod thermostat, and pre-wire to a terminal block or IP54 box so the plate arrives ready to connect.

What is the MOQ?

50 plates for a repeat size, 100 for a new casting. Prototype plates from an existing pattern start at 5 pieces.
