Cartridge & Screw-In Heaters
High Watt Density, Tight Fit

Swaged single-end elements for moulds, hot runners, water tanks and machinery. At 30–50 W/cm² the fit between heater and hole decides life — so we machine to your bore tolerance, not to a catalogue size.

SPECIFICATION RANGE

What we build

Ranges we hold every day. Anything outside them is possible — it just needs a conversation before the drawing.

Insulation resistance≥ 100 MΩ at 500 V DC · Dielectric 1500 V AC / 1 s

Max sheath temp750 °C (Incoloy), 600 °C (SS316L), 450 °C (SS304)
Send us the bore, not just the diameter. For anything above 25 W/cm² we quote against your hole tolerance (H7 or better) and state the clearance in the drawing. If the bore is worn, we can supply a slightly oversize sheath instead of asking you to ream the block.
ENGINEERING

What actually decides how long it lasts

Four things we control in the process, and four reasons elements fail in the field.

  • Clearance is the whole game above 30 W/cm². A 0.2 mm gap forces the sheath to run 80–120 °C hotter than the block. The heater still works — it just dies at month 8 instead of year 4. We ask for your bore tolerance before quoting.
  • Swaging, not filling. Compaction by swaging raises MgO density to 3.3+ g/cm³ and fixes the wire position. Hand-filled cartridges rattle, hotspot and short.
  • Lead exit temperature. At 400 °C block temperature, standard PVC lead fails in weeks. We specify 250 °C fibreglass or armour braid whenever the lead exits into the hot zone.
  • Thread sealing on screw-in types. Brass or SS threaded bodies need a defined seating face. We machine the flange face flat so the gasket seals on the first turn, not the third.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Buyer questions, answered straight

What watt density can you actually deliver?

Up to 50 W/cm² on Ø10 mm and above with a matched bore and good heat sinking. Above 40 W/cm² we will ask for the block material and bore tolerance before accepting the order.

Can you build in a thermocouple?

Yes — Type J or K built into the same sheath, or a separate Pt100 pocket. Internal TC responds 3–5× faster than a surface sensor.

Do you make imperial sizes?

Yes. Ø1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" and 1" bodies with NPT threads are standard for us, not specials.

What is the MOQ?

100 pieces for cartridge heaters, 100 for screw-in types. Sample orders of 5–20 pieces are accepted at sample pricing.

How do you package high watt density heaters?

Individually sleeved, leads protected, boxed with the test sheet per batch number. Mixed resistance sets are labelled so 3-phase groups stay matched.
